From vacation job to innovation leader in production
My first contact with Ivoclar was as a 16-year-old vacation jobber - today I am Stephan Remm, Production Innovation Manager. My godmother worked here back then, and that's how I became aware of #Ivoclar. My first summer vacation job was as a warehouse employee. I enjoyed this experience so much that I kept applying for vacation jobs at Ivoclar in the years that followed. In total, I worked at Ivoclar four or five times during the summer vacations.
After my training and community service, I was able to work on a nine-month project at Ivoclar. During this time, I successfully applied for a permanent position as a production planner and was hired permanently in 2008. In this role, I had good insights into #production, #research and #development as well as #marketing, which also constantly expanded my network within the company. When the topic of lean management came up, I was able to help build up this area. Later, I was given the opportunity to take over a production department. Although this task was very exciting, project management and process optimization never completely let go of me. I have now held the position of Production Innovation Manager since 2022. My connections to production, logistics and other departments as well as my knowledge of the teams and structures in the company are very valuable in this position.
I commute from #Göfis to #Schaan - mostly by car, sometimes by bus and occasionally by bike. Since I have two boys and take them to nursery on the way, I mainly use the car. As we tend to be on the road early, the journey is easy if there are few traffic jams. Due to my long-standing connection to Schaan, commuting is very habitual for me - in the morning I look forward to the working day and in the evening I look forward to spending time with my family. I find the 30 minutes or so of travel time perfectly fine and even relaxing. I used to be an enthusiastic racing cyclist, but now I prefer to spend my free time with my family. My boys' hobbies - ice hockey and football - have opened up new perspectives for me, given me an insight into club life and brought me new colleagues. I enjoy playing tennis with friends from the Ivoclar team. When I go hiking with my family, I enjoy experiencing nature together. What I like most about my job is the warm and respectful atmosphere at Ivoclar. The people in Liechtenstein are very open, and the family atmosphere at Ivoclar is something I particularly like. A good example of this are the great company parties - such as barbecue evenings, chestnut parties and end-of-year drinks receptions - where you realize that the entire workforce is valued. The career opportunities at Ivoclar are also excellent. The support for employees in terms of promotion and further training is great. For example, I completed a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration a few years ago and recently completed a part-time Master's degree in Technology and Innovation at the University of Liechtenstein. These further training measures were supported and appreciated by Ivoclar. I also find the friendships that have developed within the company particularly valuable. Another highlight at Ivoclar is the new building at the headquarters in Liechtenstein. The company has not only invested heavily in administration, but also in production. These investments are a strong signal that Ivoclar is clearly committed to Liechtenstein as a business location. As employees, we were not only able to experience this project, but also actively help shape it. It is a great feeling to be part of a team that was involved in the development and implementation of such a unique project. Even today, I still often get goosebumps when I walk through the production area and think back to the process.
