Shaping the digital future

The KI-Summit is representative of what has characterized the location initiative since 2017: It is actively driving forward the digital transformation of the country's business location in a networked, practical and strategically far-sighted manner. The vision is clear: by 2030, Liechtenstein wants to be one of the most modern and innovative countries in the world when it comes to digitalization. This will sustainably strengthen prosperity, competitiveness and the quality of life of the population.

One platform, many sectors, one common goal

More than 65 companies and organizations from business, science and politics support the initiative. Whether industry, banks, the energy sector, universities, healthcare or administration, digital transformation affects everyone. This is precisely why cross-industry cooperation is so effective, knowledge is shared, synergies are created and innovation becomes reality.

Events such as the AI Summit, the Cybersecurity Conference, Innovation Day, Digital Summit, Digital Day Vaduz and topic-specific roundtables regularly create space for exchange and implementation. It's not about talking, but about shaping.

The digital roadmap: structure for change

The centerpiece is the Digital Roadmap, which was published in an updated form in 2024. It bundles over 50 concrete measures in six fields of action, from education and employment to cybersecurity and digital administration, with which Liechtenstein is strengthening its business location in the long term.

Focus on artificial intelligence

AI has long been a key technology. It is changing business models, accelerating processes and influencing decisions. digital-liechtenstein.li makes this development tangible for the country through summits, workshops, roundtables, specialist publications and pilot projects that support companies in the use of AI. Particular attention is paid to responsible use, with a focus on transparency, data protection and European regulation.

Digitally visible, economically relevant

Communication also plays a central role. On LinkedIn and in the newsletter, digital-liechtenstein.li now reaches a large and constantly growing community that extends far beyond the country with thousands of followers and subscribers. This reach ensures that topics from Liechtenstein become visible and flow into the international discourse.

A country that works together

The initiative is under the patronage of the Princely House and the sponsorship of the government. It shows how the state, business and science act together when it comes to the future. Digitalization is more than just technology, it is an attitude and will only succeed if all players join in.

Sustainable Economy & Innovation (ESG)

The Principality of Liechtenstein has achieved remarkable success in the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda by using its economic strength specifically for sustainability goals. The country has a particularly positive record in the areas of employment and innovation.

Economy and work: stability and resilience (SDG 8)

Liechtenstein fulfills the goal of "Decent work and economic growth" in an exemplary manner. The development is positive and characterized by exceptional stability:

  • Full employment: Liechtenstein boasts one of the lowest unemployment rates in Europe (most recently 1.9%), which demonstrates a high level of crisis resilience in the labor market.
  • Social security: Targeted government support packages, for example to relieve energy costs or during the COVID-19 pandemic, have secured jobs and successfully reduced the number of "working poor".
  • Integration: The government actively promotes the reintegration of the long-term unemployed and people with disabilities in order to create an inclusive working environment.

Innovation and digitalization: world leader (SDG 9)

When it comes to innovation, Liechtenstein is a global leader that is consistently digitalizing its infrastructure:

  • Leading R&D investments: The country invests massively in research and development (R&D) with a share of almost 5% of GDP.
  • Digital pioneering role: companies benefit from full digital communication with the authorities. Liechtenstein also has one of the most extensive fiber optic networks in the world.

Support for SMEs: With innovation and digital checks, the government directly supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in research and digital transformation.
