National holiday 2025: Celebrating together

The 2025 national holiday combines tried and tested traditions with new impulses. Highlights include the official state ceremony, the large public festival in the town and the fireworks display after dark. The population is cordially invited to celebrate Liechtenstein's biggest festival together again this year.
Liechtenstein celebrates its traditional national holiday on August 15, 2025. In the morning, the state ceremony will take place with speeches by H.S.H. Hereditary Prince Alois von und zu Liechtenstein and the President of Parliament Manfred Kaufmann. Afterwards, Bishop Benno Elbs will give a solemn blessing over the municipalities, the Principality of Liechtenstein and all guests present, before the Princely Family invites everyone to an aperitif on the castle lawn. The state ceremony can only be attended with a ticket. Tickets are available for residents and their personal guests from Monday, June 16, 2025, from the respective municipality of residence. Liechtenstein citizens living abroad can obtain tickets free of charge from the Liechtenstein Center from Tuesday, August 12, 2025. As the number of tickets is limited and as many people as possible should be able to attend, please only collect the tickets you actually need.
Colourful stage and entertainment program with many regional contributors
The stalls and children's program start at 12.00 noon in the town of Vaduz. This year, too, great importance is attached to regional highlights and sustainability. Numerous associations and a stage program with local acts on five different stages will provide diverse entertainment from 2.00 pm. "Many artists from the region invite you to join in the celebrations. With pop, salsa, electro, rock music and much more, the varied stage program appeals to all generations and tastes," says Kerstin Künzle, Head of Events at Liechtenstein Marketing. Younger guests will also find fun and games for an entertaining afternoon in the children's and youth zones. At the Winzerdörfle in the marketplace garage, visitors can enjoy local wines and regional delicacies in a cozy atmosphere. "This year there will also be a festive beer in an exclusive national holiday edition from the Liechtensteiner Brauhaus."
Vaduz presents itself as a host municipality
One tradition is the host municipality during the national festival: in 2025, this will be Vaduz and therefore the host municipality. "I am delighted that Vaduz will be hosting the national festival in 2025. As the capital, we are not only the political center, but also a living space, meeting place and cultural heart," explains Florian Meier, Mayor of Vaduz. "On 15 August, we are making this diversity visible in the middle of the town together with Vaduz associations and organizations." The day will be hosted by presenter Peter Beck, who will guide visitors through the diverse line-up. From the festive opening with Harmoniemusik Vaduz to the rocking finale with Rock House, there is something for everyone.
Light spectacle in the evening
At 9.15 pm, the bonfires, the crown on Tuass and the torchlight procession on the Fürstensteig are lit, leading up to the crowning highlight: the fireworks display at 10 pm. Once again this year, the fireworks will be set off from the Langacker meadow above the Au traffic circle.
Optimized security measures
To ensure that the national holiday runs smoothly and orderly again this year, the National Police have drawn up a comprehensive security plan. "In addition to the security measures already in place by the National Police, access barriers have been added to increase security," says Gino Blumenthal, Head of Operations for the Liechtenstein National Police. As tens of thousands of guests are once again expected at the festival, the National Police will once again be implementing the tried-and-tested traffic management concept. Although appropriate parking facilities outside the town center will be signposted, it is recommended that visitors arrive at the festival by public transport or bicycle.
