RoboLeague Liechtenstein will take place on January 17 at the SAL in Schaan
Experiencing technology in a playful way, promoting logical thinking, and getting young people excited about the digital future: With RoboLeague Liechtenstein, Ivoclar has been creating a platform for years where young people can live out their enthusiasm for technology, programming, and teamwork. On Saturday, January 17, 2026, the popular competition will enter its next round at SAL Schaan. Spectators are cordially invited to attend live.
For the sixth time, students from Liechtenstein, Eastern Switzerland, and Vorarlberg are competing against each other to secure the title of "Liechtenstein's RoboLeague Champion 2026." A total of 16 teams with almost 50 participants have been tinkering, building, and programming together with their teachers over the past few months. Now the time has come – the LEGO® robots they have developed themselves can show what they are capable of.
The competition: Sumo robots in direct combat
In 2026, RoboLeague will return to a particularly popular competition format: the Sumo competition. Two robots compete directly against each other on specially prepared playing fields. The goal is to push the opposing robot out of the arena – without any human intervention.
Once the approximately 25-centimeter-tall LEGO® robots are activated, they operate completely autonomously. Speed, sensors, strategy, and precise programming determine victory or defeat. The strongest teams emerge over several rounds until the best robots compete for overall victory in the final. Excitement is guaranteed – not only for the participants, but also for the audience. In addition to technical know-how, RoboLeague also focuses on future skills such as teamwork, problem-solving and creative thinking.
Experience technology – even outside of the competition
The RoboLeague is more than just a competition: parallel to the matches, visitors can enjoy a varied supporting program. There is plenty to discover, especially for children and families. A creative children's program invites them to get involved – from designing and experimenting to playful technology stations.
PepperMINT, the Liechtenstein initiative to promote technology and natural sciences, is also participating again and supporting the program for children and young people with exciting hands-on activities.
In addition, Ivoclar apprentices and specialists will be at various information stands to provide information about training opportunities, job profiles, and career entry options at the dental company. This will give interested visitors a direct insight into the world of technology and career prospects at Ivoclar. Refreshments will also be provided.
