Government program 2025-2029: Shaping the state, securing the future - standing shoulder to shoulder for tomorrow
At its meeting on Tuesday, 7 October 2025, the Government of the Principality of Liechtenstein adopted the government program for the 2025-2029 legislative period. Under the motto "Shaping the state - securing the future. Standing shoulder to shoulder for tomorrow", the government has set clear priorities: Securing stability, strengthening cohesion and creating prospects.
Shared values as a guiding principle
The primary task of the state is to promote the overall welfare of the people, as laid down in the constitution. In order to achieve this goal, the government has defined a comprehensive catalog of measures as well as the values that should shape policy in the coming years. These include transparency, communication at eye level and the visibility of impact.
Ensuring stability - resilience for the challenges of the times
Liechtenstein is facing major challenges: Global upheavals, technological developments and geopolitical tensions call for clear orientation and reliable framework conditions. The government is therefore focusing on sound public finances, a robust infrastructure and stable conditions for the economy, energy, education and security. The aim is to strengthen the country's resilience - both domestically and through international cooperation. Location policy is geared towards quality of life, economic resilience and sustainability. At the same time, a comprehensive approach is being taken to security policy and an integrated security strategy is being further developed.
Strengthening cohesion - For a society based on solidarity and worth living in
A strong state thrives on the trust and cohesion of its population. The government program therefore places great value on personal responsibility, social cohesion and solidarity. Education, social policy, volunteering, culture, sport and a forward-looking health policy form the foundation of an accessible and humane society. The government is committed to social security, a strong healthcare system and the promotion of mental health. The focus is on reconciling family and career, lifelong learning and the integration of all population groups, as well as intergenerational dialog and cultural diversity.
Creating prospects - the courage to change and innovate
Liechtenstein needs the courage to change. Innovation, digitalization and sustainable action are key elements of the government's programme. Future technologies should be used strategically and the attractiveness of public administration as an employer should be strengthened. The government is committed to a holistic environmental policy, the preservation of natural spaces and sustainable agriculture. International partnerships will be expanded, Liechtenstein's voice in Europe will be actively represented and the humanitarian tradition will be continued.
Tackling challenges with confidence
As Head of Government Brigitte Haas emphasizes, the government programme is structured along the three guiding principles of stability, cohesion and perspective: "We have summarized our plans for the next four years, while at the same time the programme leaves room for new challenges and developments." Deputy Prime Minister Sabine Monauni adds: "All stakeholders are invited to contribute constructive ideas and solutions for shaping our country. Whether citizens, institutions, clubs, associations or politicians - only together can we make a difference." The head of government is also convinced of this: "With foresight, a sense of responsibility and confidence, Liechtenstein can remain a secure, stable and sustainable country in the future."
