Management tasks, family time - between Schaan and Göfis
Marco R. on setbacks, world travel and the courage to just do things.
Marco Rosche is part of FMA Mechatronic Solutions AG for the fourth time and for good reason. The management assistant looks back on an exciting life, full of experiences, changes of direction and courageous decisions. A story that is anything but ordinary and one that is a pleasure to listen to.
"I am 45 years old, come from Austria, live in Göfis, am divorced and have two children, they are 10 and 13 years old. I started out as an electrician, continued my training, traveled a lot, studied, started a family and then reinvented myself again. It's all part of me."
His way to work? A mixture of everyday life and time out.
"When the weather is nice, I ride my racing bike to work, it's 15 kilometers from Göfis to Schaan. A good route, also from a sporting point of view. It takes me almost as long by car in rush-hour traffic. On the road bike, I have exercise, fresh air and three quarters of an hour to let my mind wander."
The fact that he is where he is today was anything but straightforward.
"The first time I came to the FMA was straight after the army. The franc was around 1.56 - that was a long time ago. I was looking for a job and the salary was better in Liechtenstein. There was a different management at the time, but I felt very comfortable. Then came the economic crisis and I moved to Switzerland."
It was not to be the last change. Marco Rosche returned several times because the work appealed to him and the environment was right.
"The second time, my boss at the time brought me back. I later met my future wife and we went on a trip around the world together, which is when I left FMA again. In the time in between, I trained as a technical salesman and rebuilt the warehouse at FMA on the side."
The trip around the world became a turning point.
"I was 26, really wanted to learn English and didn't have much money, so I decided to go to England as an au pair. As a man, that was rather unusual. But I always had a good connection with children, was active in water rescue and a judo coach. I then met my future wife in a nightclub. On our second date, she said she wanted to go traveling. On the fifth, I asked: Can I come with you? "
He laughs. She probably didn't take him very seriously, but Marco Rosche was convinced and went through with it.
"I quit everything: job, apartment, training. Then I didn't hear from her for a week. She was completely overwhelmed. But she actually flew off and I followed a week later. Mexico, Central America, South America, New Zealand, Australia, South East Asia. It was a wonderful, unforgettable and simply incredible time."
Back in Austria, they built a house, got married, had two children and separated.
"Unfortunately, it didn't last, but I have no regrets. I have two wonderful children. I have the children from Saturday to Wednesday. In the afternoon, when they don't have school, I'm at home when they come home from school. I cook, help with homework, am present. My daughter loves Monday afternoons with me, that's our time."
Today, Marco Rosche lives a structured and conscious life.
"I get up early in the morning, do a little yoga session, often ride my road bike to work, come home and do whatever needs to be done. I'm someone who likes to have a plan, which is good for me."
In addition to his job as a strategic project manager and management assistant, he is studying business administration, is a data protection officer and remains active in sport.
"I was rather lazy as a child, which kept me busy for a long time. But I did my vocational baccalaureate, learned English and continued to develop. Now I'm studying business administration because I want to prove it to myself. And because I know it will help me in my career."
For him, Liechtenstein is not just a workplace, but a place of quality.
"I like working here. The routes are good, the working culture is pleasant and the FMA is a company whose roots I know. I feel I have arrived."
And when you ask him if he is happy, he says without hesitation:
"I've experienced a lot. I have a great job, two children who I love more than anything, I'm healthy - yes, I'm really happy." Marco Rosche is not a person who leaves things to chance. He makes conscious decisions, acts courageously and remains true to himself. His story shows that you don't always need a perfect plan. Sometimes it is enough to trust life and yourself.
