LIHK position paper on strengthening Liechtenstein as a business location

The geopolitical situation, US customs policy and protectionist tendencies in general are leading to uncertainty in the global economy and weighing on Liechtenstein's export-oriented economy. A survey of member companies of the Liechtenstein Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LIHK) conducted in mid-August 2025 confirms that they are affected by US customs policy: the foreign sales of two thirds of LIHK industrial member companies are substantially affected by US customs policy. The strong appreciation of the Swiss franc against the US dollar in recent months has also had a massive impact on Liechtenstein exporters.

As Liechtenstein's industry and manufacturing sector account for more than 40% of Liechtenstein's gross value added and the measures taken by companies to overcome the challenging framework conditions will not be sufficient to cushion the negative external effects, the LIHK has drawn up a position paper on strengthening Liechtenstein as a business location.

With this position paper, the LCCI proposes seven measures and offers the government and politicians the opportunity to participate in the development of these measures. The LCCI is convinced that by consistently processing and implementing the measures, the government and politicians can contribute to strengthening Liechtenstein as a business location and thus to safeguarding Liechtenstein as a business location for the benefit of the entire economy.
