Liechtenstein Government Adopts AI Strategy

At its meeting on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, the government adopted the Liechtenstein State Administration’s (LLV) AI strategy. The strategy aims to contribute to a modern, citizen-centered administration through the prudent use of artificial intelligence (AI), thereby serving the well-being of society in a sustainable manner.

The integration of artificial intelligence into the state administration’s work environment is guided by four principles. It is carried out responsibly by adhering to legal requirements and upholding high ethical standards. It is people-centered by supporting employees without ever relinquishing their responsibility for their actions. It remains transparent by communicating the use of AI to employees and the public in a way that is easy to understand. And it aims for efficiency and innovation to improve service quality and promote the further development of the state administration.

Specifically, the measures outlined in the AI strategy will be implemented across the four key areas of people, organization, governance, and infrastructure. “This structure ensures that artificial intelligence is deployed in a holistic manner and that the further development of the state administration is broadly supported,” emphasizes Chief Executive Brigitte Haas. An organizational framework defines the roles of the relevant agencies, as well as their responsibilities and procedures.

AI Strategy as a Living Document

In light of constant technological change, the AI strategy is regularly reviewed and refined. “Goals can be adapted, prioritized, or supplemented,” said the head of government. “In this way, we are taking the highly dynamic field of artificial intelligence into account appropriately.” Accordingly, the document does not specify a fixed period of validity. A fundamental revision will follow by 2030 at the latest, during which the strategic goals will be reviewed and the areas of action updated.
