Head of Government Brigitte Haas at the European Political Community Summit in Copenhagen

On Thursday, October 2, 2025, Prime Minister Brigitte Haas took part in the seventh summit of the European Political Community. Heads of state and government from more than 40 European countries as well as high-ranking representatives of the European institutions, NATO, the Council of Europe and the OSCE came to Denmark for the event.
The idea of a European summit of this kind goes back to French President Emmanuel Macron and was launched in 2022. The European Political Community comprises European states inside and outside the EU and meets every six months. Head of Government Brigitte Haas emphasizes the importance of such platforms and meetings, especially in light of the current geopolitical situation. "Cooperation with like-minded states is of central importance, strengthens our collective ability to act and helps to promote stability and security".
After the opening session of the summit, the head of government took part in the round table chaired by President Macron and Prime Minister Rama (Albania) on the topic of "Security and resilience - traditional and new threats". In this context, the head of government exchanged views with the prime ministers of Spain, Armenia, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Sweden and Serbia as well as the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas. The discussion focused on the possibilities of improved and coordinated preparedness and resilience, combating disinformation and foreign influence, particularly in connection with social media, as well as the threat posed by organized cross-border crime and criminal networks.
The head of government then held a bilateral meeting with Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silina to discuss EU cooperation, Ukraine and tax issues and to sign the double taxation agreement on this occasion. With the Prime Minister of the Faroe Islands, Aksel Vilhelmsson Johannesen, the focus was on their interest in possible cooperation with the European Free Trade Association.
These European summits also contribute in particular to strengthening cooperation and deepening existing contacts. The meeting in Copenhagen offered the Head of Government the opportunity to exchange views directly with counterparts such as the President of the European Parliament Metsola, Kosovo's President Osmani-Sadriu, Federal Chancellor Stocker and President Keller-Sutter.
To mark the summit, Their Majesties the King and Queen of Denmark invited the participants to a dinner at Amalienborg Palace, built in the 17th century, the evening before.
