Liechtenstein signs free trade agreement with Mercosur states

Ambassador Frank Büchel signed the free trade agreement between the member states of EFTA and MERCOSUR (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay) on behalf of #Liechtenstein in Rio de Janeiro on September 16, 2025. The agreement creates new economic prospects for export-oriented companies in Liechtenstein and strengthens access to a market with over 260 million consumers. Among other things, it includes the elimination of customs duties, the promotion of sustainable development and clear rules for investments and intellectual property. The agreement is a strong signal for open trade and international cooperation. It offers Liechtenstein companies new opportunities in dynamic growth markets and strengthens Liechtenstein's position as a globally networked business location.
"Thanks to the free trade agreement with the Mercosur states, Liechtenstein is continuing its successful free trade policy within the EFTA framework. Free trade agreements are particularly important in challenging times in terms of trade policy. They enable our export industry to open up new markets and diversify," said Foreign Minister Sabine Monauni.
