The e-commerce platform goes online
On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, the eCommerce platform of the Office of Economic Affairs will go live. The previous application process using forms will be replaced. On the new eGewerbe platform, companies can handle all trade law matters simply and efficiently online.
From September 10, 2025, companies will be able to submit applications for authorizations required to carry out a trade to the Office of Economic Affairs via the new eTrade platform. The platform offers many advantages: digital application submission, an overview of all applications and authorizations, 24/7 access and transparent communication. It is linked to other digital administrative services. This allows companies to centrally view and manage all important information in business transactions with the Office of Economic Affairs in the area of trade.
All commercial authorizations at a glance
The eCommerce platform makes it possible to complete, temporarily save and submit applications to the Office of Economic Affairs in one place. This is done via a central user interface in which all authorizations at the Office of Economic Affairs are listed. These can be adjusted there directly or new authorizations can be requested. The approval process and communication, for example about points that need to be improved or clarified, are handled digitally via the platform. Applicants thus know the current processing status and are notified of status changes and queries regarding their pending applications.
24/7 availability
Whether early in the morning or late at night - the platform is available to companies around the clock. This time flexibility is a considerable advantage, especially for people who mainly carry out their administrative tasks outside of normal opening hours. In addition, applications that have been started can be saved temporarily and submitted at a later date, for example if documents or information still need to be organized.
Integration with basic e-government services
The e-business platform is linked to the so-called e-government basic services of the Liechtenstein National Administration. These include
- eID.li: The electronic identity that guarantees a secure login.
- eRepresentation: A basic service that makes it possible to grant representation authorizations and delegate tasks to trusted persons.
Implementation of the "once-only principle"
The so-called "once-only principle" is regulated in the eGovernment Act. It states that citizens and companies only have to submit their data to an authority once and that this data can then be reused within the national administration. The basis for this is a central database within the Liechtenstein National Administration. For individuals and companies, this saves time and simplifies administrative processes.
Fast and transparent
The eCommerce platform covers a wide range of authorizations:
- Business registrations and licenses
- Permits for employment services and personnel leasing
- Licenses as a road transport company
- Sunday and public holiday permits for stores
- Licenses in the area of construction professions
- Licenses in the field of interpreting and translating
Digital processing makes the procedural processes more transparent and faster. All information and the current status of ongoing procedures are clearly displayed and can be accessed directly via a personal dashboard.
Requirements for using the e-commerce platform
To access the benefits of the eCommerce platform, the following is required:
- An eID.li for the registration.
- An eRepresentation accountto grant representation authorizations for certain online services.
Registration takes place online. Users are guided through the process step by step. All interested companies and individuals who do not yet have an eID can apply for one at www.eID.li. They can also familiarize themselves with eRepresentation and issue electronic powers of attorney to their trusted representatives.
Added value for Liechtenstein as a business location
With the introduction of the eCommerce platform, a central component of the country's digitalization roadmap is being implemented. The new e-platform is an important milestone in the efforts to drive forward the digitalization of public administration in Liechtenstein, simplify services for citizens and businesses, modernize administrative processes and improve cooperation between authorities. This will strengthen the advantages of Liechtenstein as a modern, forward-looking business location. For businesses in Liechtenstein, this means less bureaucracy and more time for their core business.
